Our Application is Done!

We wanted to keep you updated along the way on our next adoption. Many people have asked what the process looks like and we thought the blog would be the perfect place to address those questions. We are so glad that we have completed our 15 page adoption application and gathered and photocopied all of the paperwork they require. We will mail it tomorrow. That is a load off. Here is a list of the things they need in our paperwork:
*Colored copies of our driver's license
*floor plan of our home
*Pictures of us and our house
*Directions to our house
*Typed autobiography from each parent
*Statement of Income
*Copy of Saving and Checking account statements
*birth certificates
*marriage certificate
*copy of health and life insurance coverage
*pet vaccination records
*five references, including one pastor, 3 non-relatives, and one relative
*proof of employment and good employment record
*Statement from our physician stating we are in good health
*Three statements (they provided) that we have sign
* Home fire and health inspection
*And of course many fees along the way!

So...for those people that say "You can always adopt" when a couple faces infertility...as you can see it is not that simple. This is just the paperwork not to mention the training classes, interviews, and home study that will have to be completed. Along with the scrapbook of our life I have to compile. It can be challenging. But I am not complaining. We feel if God has called us to this privilige of adopting His children into our family, then we will be good stewards of that and complete the work He has begun. And if you can believe it, we had to have much more done when we were in the process to be licensed as foster parents. This time around has been a cake walk compared to that. :)
