Winter Exercise

One of the things I want to do better this year, is to exercise more. It may seem that a stay-at-home mom would get enough in with chasing a two year old around, but lets be honest-how much time is actually spent in the car, sitting on the floor, sitting on furniture reading, sitting to eat...you get the picture. The Surgeon General (who is this guy, anyways?) recommends exercising 3-4 times a week, moderately for atleast 30 minutes. So as a way to inspire all my other Mommy-friends out there (who can't afford a gym membership) and those who just want to exercise more, I thought I would blog about it! And here is a list I've come up with, some I have done and others I hope to do:

Winter Exercise Activities:
-Mall walking (I have done this several times already this month)
-Swimming at a Natatorium (done this twice...it is only around $4 for Isaac and I)
-Pump It Up (indoor inflatable bounce houses...and if it's not crowded, you can jump with your child too! Wear short sleeves...it is HOT in those things!)
-Dancing with your child
-Yoga and fitness videos from the library (I sure wish our library would update its supply-who does Jane Fonda anymore?!)
-Child Fitness videos (like baby yoga, fit kids, etc.)
-Using small weights (5-10 pounds) to strengthen your arm muscles
-Jump Rope (not yet for me...but I will hopefully work up to this)
-Balance Ball (you know those big exercise balls that could knock your two year old down if you roll it right at them...hee...hee, not that I have actually done that or anything)
-Stepping up on stairs or your child's foot stool (I step during commercials)
-Ice Skating at the mall...even though I personally cannot imagine putting on those skates that have a tiny metal thing holding you up, and propelling myself across a slab of ice...who came up with that sport anyway!!) But I'm sure it is great exercise!

Okay...so I need some more ideas because it is only the second week in January and I am already bored with some of these! Help!

Sometimes I put on socks and slide across the kitchen floor with William. We call it the "silly sock slide". After a while I work up a sweat! Great suggestions. You know I am all about mall walking.

Well, three to four times (or less) a week you and Isaac could take a walk around the neighborhood. You could make it fun by anming cool things, (like dogs, cats, signs, etc) that you saw.
