We drove to Waco on Wed. morning and arrived around 7:30 a.m. Soon after arriving, the doctor's gave the birthmother petocin to get her contractions going. She had contractions pretty much non-stop until 10:00 a.m. At that time I went to the nurse and asked if someone could check her dilation and they did and she was at a 6! So they determined at that time to give her the epidural. At around 11:45, her water broke, the nurses prepped the room, brought the doctor in and 5 pushes later our little Vivi bounded into the world at 12:07! Billy nervously cut the umbilical cord and we watched as the baby nurse cleaned her up, diapered her, put a hat on, wrapped her and handed her to me! We spent the next half an hour all together in the delivery room loving on the baby. And then they let me carry her to the nursery where they bathed her and put a bow in her hair! It was very exciting. Over the next 48 hours we spent much time with Vivi in the nusery, visiting the birthmother in her room, and traveling back and forth to our hotel. On Friday morning we went to our birthmother's room and dressed Vivianna for her hospital pictures. When those were done we left and gave them the next several hours to say goodbye. At around 2 something our caseworkers came to tell us that the relinquishment papers had been signed and we were ready to be discharged. We spent a little time saying our goodbyes to Vivi's birthmother. Then we got all our paperwork together, our huge diaper bag of formula, and headed home!
