National Foster Care Month

"Research shows that children of color are no more likely to be abused or neglected by their parents, yet they account for 60% of America's 513,000 foster children. That’s a far higher percentage than their representation in the population. They also tend to have worse outcomes than their Caucasian peers. This overrepresentation and disparity in outcomes is called disproportionality."
Above quote taken from www.fostercaremonth.org
May is National Foster Care Month. Today we were told that our friends said goodbye to their first foster baby, an African American boy that they have had since January. They are hoping to adopt through the foster care system. We honor them this month along with all the other foster parents that touch the lives of America's children. Please check out the link above to see how you can help aid those in the foster care system.
