Foster Care

My friend Kristi emailed me this article from the Dallas Morning News with the headline "Frustrated Foster Parents Giving Up. It is VERY interesting and rings true in many ways to our experiences.
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/dn/latestnews/stories/080607dntexfoster.3903d0f.html

****In a strange coincidence, as I am reading this I received a call from Children's Medical Center confirming an appointment for Mark! He was the newborn foster baby we had March 2006. I said "I'm sorry he was our foster baby and was put into kinship placement a year ago." She asked if he was back in CPS care because she had received a call to schedule an appointment for him (now 17 months old) on June 27th, and the only contact info she had was ours! This leads me to believe that either a CPS worker or foster mom had to have made that appointment, because the clinic there is for foster children and those on Medicaid. If his family members were taking him there, he would have been going to all his regular infant check-ups for the last year and they would not have our info as his anymore! This means he must have recently re-entered state care because they are required to schedule a Dr's appointment for each child who enters foster care. Ohhh...this makes my heart sad as our hope for each of our babies was that they would go on to have a healthy life. We would have wanted to adopt sweet Mark had we been given the chance and here he is over a year later going back into the foster care system for abuse or neglect. Who knows what his first year of life was like. It's just a shame.****

That is a shame. Poor little guy. He has no say what goes on in his life!

Laurie, don't moments like this bring our hearts back to the realization that our world is fallen and in need of a Savior. I pray that Mark's parents would come to know our Lord and repent of this wicked life they are pouring onto their child. Wow, and how awful to think what could of happened. I am so much more encouraged to move ahead in Foster care as I read this and remember how much kids need Jesus and God-obeying Mommies and Daddies!

Laurie,
My heart is so sad to hear that. I have often wondered about him and how his life was turning out. Maybe the fact that he is now back in the foster system means that he is out of a bad situation and will be placed in a good home. I pray that that will happen.
