It can be very difficult to shop convenience foods for your child when you try to feed them as healthy as possible. Most packaged foods are high in fat and calories, sugar, and sodium...not to mention all the additives and preservatives. But with a toddler and an infant, it is hard to make all of Isaac's meals. So you can imagine my delight when I went grocery shopping at Target last night and discovered these items in the frozen foods! They were in their own little section with other organic items for kids. (my new favorite kids company is Ian's natural foods...they sell at Target too).
They weren't that expensive and they are lower in sodium then most frozen products out there, plus they have whole grains and fiber! Earth's Best is the organic baby cereal I buy for Vivi and they make cereal bars for Isaac. It is a great company. The bonus is that these healthy foods have fun characters on the package to appeal to the commercialism in all of us. Move over sugar cereal...Dora Edamame is coming through!!
***Okay, I posted this in the morning and then in the afternoon I was busy making baby food when Isaac asked to have some. So he ate two bowls of pureed acorn squash, used pureed zucchini as a dip with his carrots, and ate a huge bowl of warm pureed apples. Who knew that making baby food would pay off w/Isaac's nutrition too! Might just have to forgo that daily multivitamin. Isaac sure knew how to put a smile on Mama's face!****
