Our marriage retreat for Adoptive couples this weekend was AWESOME!! The hotel was so nice and our bed had down comforters and pillows. The food was so good, we were way overfed and even treated to ice cream bars, soft pretzels, and popcorn for our afternoon break. There were 45 couples from all over the metroplex. We were the youngest there, by far. It was great to mingle with other parents who have children from CPS. We swapped stories, shed some tears, and encouraged each other. I especially enjoyed hearing about how two couples who are African American and parenting white kids- deal with the stares and comments in public. The main thing they are asked is if they are their child's nanny. I was able to share about the adoption ministry (Tapestry) that we are involved with at Irving Bible Church and had several couples show an interest in coming to our events. I hope to see them at the Tapestry conference in November.
All in all, even though we missed our kids and dogs terribly, it was such a fun and relaxing weekend. They pampered us well with lots of gifts and treats! Thank you, Lutheran Social Services of the South for caring so much about providing post adoption services!! We will definitely be attending their events in the future. And thank you to the state of Texas for funding these things so well! It was a really great time.

I am so glad that you had fun at your retreat! We will see you on Friday.
What a blessing! I imagine that you and Billy enjoyed the time alone, but missed your babies dearly.
Down pillows and comforters, what a joy, I am such a princess...I can hardly sleep without those two objects of my affection.
